Description
Join us for LAND & LIBERATION: Decolonizing Feminist Thought & Centering Indigenous and Transnational Women
For the past four years, AF3IRM Los Angeles has convened an annual march led by women of color in commemoration of International Women's Day. The 2019 forum that AF3IRM Los Angeles will host on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 9:00am to 5:00pm at the United Teachers of Los Angeles Office will be the continuation of the concepts and wisdom drawn from almost 30 years of AF3IRM history, the last nine years of AF3IRM organizing, and the last 5 years of intentional exercises of our radical imaginations.
We know from our lived experiences that transnational women’s histories and legacies of struggle as well as the intimate knowledge and collective memory indigenous women hold of what liberation looked like before colonization are the foundation for our own vision of freedom. This interweave of wisdoms will prompt a strategy on how to move from decolonzing feminist thought to building active solidarity with various indigenous feminist movements from around the globe, including the Tongva land which we occupy.
We welcome all girls and women-identified people of color with a love for justice and a thirst for liberation. This is a woman-identified space.
