Description

After completing Leadership 101 and a Personal Leadership Application, participants will continue to explore and develop their leadership skills. Throughout this interactive two-day program, adaptive and transformational leadership approaches are applied to real life situations. This course incorporates the practical application of leadership skills through engaging discussions and professional networking with content experts. Topics covered include: Creating vision and strategy; informal leadership roles; fostering adaptive and transformational leadership; creating cultures of change and innovation; leading others through conflict; building relationships and networking; implementing frameworks for leadership decision-making; building high performance teams; empowering others and fostering followership; leading diverse work forces; and developing a leadership philosophy statement.

Course Objectives

By the end of LAMP Institute for Leadership 201, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the interpersonal and leadership skills needed to resolve performance gaps and broken commitments
  • Recognize generational differences in the workforce and develop strategies to lead different generations
  • Craft a Leadership Philosophy Statement
  • Discuss and analyze the principles of situational, adaptive and transformational leadership
  • Demonstrate decision making skills

Speaker Information and Bios

Amy Lafko, MSPT, MBA is the founder and CEO of Cairn Consulting Solutions. Within the company she utilizes her PT background, MBA and certification as a behavioral analyst. The company focuses on employee engagement and team development. Amy Lafko previously served as the Operations Administrator for WellSpan Health’s Urgent Care clinics in 4 counties of South Central PA. Amy has been with WellSpan for 7 years and transitioned to Urgent Care from the Director of Rehabilitation position for WellSpan Health York Hospital and VNA. She has held leadership positions in home health, acute care, acute inpatient rehab and SNF. As Chair of the LAMP Leadership Institute and the LAMP Leadership Curriculum committee, Amy is committed to staying current on evidence based leadership skills. She is passionate about providing educational experiences across the country related to personal and professional leadership. Spring 2017 was Amy’s first year as adjunct faculty for Loyola University of Maryland, Sellinger School of Business where she taught Organizational Behavior.

Beth Sarfaty, PT, MBA has been with Select Medical for over 21 years and has served in a variety of roles. In her current role as VP of Rehabilitation Services in LTACH, she provides support, operational guidance and clinical teambuilding to the Rehab departments. She also works with the hospital leadership team to foster strong communication and collaboration to promote a meaningful and productive work environment to cultivate relationships and hospital growth. A graduate of Northeastern University in Boston MA with a BS in Physical Therapy and a MBA with a concentration of healthcare management from Regis University in Denver, CO, Beth also serves on the NJ State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners since Jan 2012.

Accreditation and Credit Designation

NYU Langone Medical Center is a New York State Education Department approved provider for physical therapy and physical therapist assistant continuing education. This course is approved for a maximum of 15.0 physical therapy/physical therapist assistant contact hours. This activity is pending approval in NJ. The following states require continuing education units (CEUs) with no state-specific approval: CT, IA, ID, MO, ND, and WA.

NYU Langone Medical Center is an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) approved provider for occupational therapy and occupational therapist assistant continuing education. This course is approved for a maximum of 15.0 occupational therapy/occupational therapist assistant contact hours. This course meets the AOTA classification code of Occupational Therapy Process: Outcomes. The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA.

Classification code: This course meets the AOTA classfication code of Occupational Therapy Professional Issues: Supervision.

The CEUs will be provided via certificate electronically after completion of the course.

This course level is introductory; appropriate for an OT, OTA, OT student, PT, PTA, and PT student.

Materials: This workshop will be in a lecture format.
