Event description
This event will take place on Lako Street above the gas station. Find parking near Walua Trail. Race will start 100 feet above gas station.

About this Event

This is a challenging uphill time trial. Starting at 10 second intervals, riders race against the clock and battle the gradients to set the fastest possible time they can, and possibly get the KOM (King Of Mountain) or QOM (Queen Of Mountain). The fastest man/woman up the climb takes victory!

Be warned... it’s not so much distance that riders will fear, but rather the gradients of the climb. The gradient of a climb is basically how steep it is.

The 1 mile climb will see competitors tackle an average gradient of 13% and maximum gradient of 18% in a bid to record the fastest time and take home the coveted title of Big Island Hill Climb Racing KOM Champion.

There will be prizes for every participant and volunteer!

Cash Awards for top male and female finishers!

The sign-in area will be located just below the Walua Trail entrance on Lako Street.

The finish line will be located at 76 South Pakalakala Pl. The rewards ceremony will be held across the way in the very kind Jackie's grass lawn. You can park a little ways down Lako and walk up to watch the finishers!

Sponsors of this event are: Kona Sports Center, Hawaii Cycling Club, Kiser Motorcycles, Under the Bodhi Tree, Lavaman Triathlon, Bioastin, and Kona Coffee and Tea, and Kona Impact .

All proceeds from the races will go to the GO WILD SCHOLARSHIP!
