Lake Sybelia Elementary - Walking School Bus

Walking School Bus are groups of young people in grades K-8 who walk to school to-gether under the supervision of trained adult volunteers. Walking School Bus travel along a pre-planned route, typically no longer than one mile, picking up youth at different "stations" until they arrive at the school.
Walking School Bus have real world tangi-ble benefits for your community. Partici-pating youth learn pedestrian safety, en-gage in increased physical activity, and make new friends. The community benefits through decreased traffic congestion and improved air quality. Simply put — it’s a win win!

Walking School Bus Central Florida
Walking School Bus Central Florida is the local affiliate of a national movement dedicated to creating healthier communities. We partner with schools to organize groups of young people that walk to school together under the supervision of trained adult volunteers. Walking School Bus travel along preplanned routes (up to one mile) stopping to pick up youth at designated “stations” until they arrive safely at school. Walking School Bus Central Florida is a program of the Center for Public and Nonprofit Management at the University of Central Florida provided through funding from the Florida Department of Transportation.
