Event description

Description

The Lake Erie 2018 Conference covers the Central Basin Lake Erie Watersheds. The Central Basin of Lake Erie generally begins at Sandusky Bay and ends at Erie, Pa. Researchers tell us that the harmful algae is primarily generated in the western basin and then moves to the central basin that creates a dead zone. Learn about the dead zone and other topics on the central Lake Erie basin. Our speakers will be: Frank Greenland, Northeast Ohio Wastewater: Progress on Northeast District's Sewage Overflow Reductions. Mark Rowe, NOAA: Central Basin Dead Zone. Scott Moegling, Cleveland Water: Monitoring Cleveland's intakes for algae and dead zone. Jane Goodman, Cuyahoga RAP: Cuyahoga River Cleanup Progress. Janice Kerns, ODNR: Fish in the Central Basin. Kim Kaufman, Black Swamp Bird Observatory: Wind Turbines Lake Erie. Cathi Lehn, Sustainable Cleveland Manager: Plastics in Lake Erie Speaker. Matt Dolan, Ohio Sentator: Lake Erie. Jared Magyar, Port of Cleveland: Port Activities. Please contact Tara Crump, tcrump11@hotmail.com or 419-307-5944 to become a sponsor of this event.
