Event description
NEW PROGRAM for HIGH SCHOOL-AGE YOUTH - gain community service hours, help an endangered species, and connect with other West County teens!

About this Event

High School Students! Gain community service hours, help an endangered species, and learn alongside your friends through Laguna ACTS (Action through Conservation, Training, and Stewardship) vernal pool stewardship days for high school students! Vernal pools are special ecosystems found in the Laguna de Santa Rosa watershed, and they host many threatened and endangered species unique to our area. Participants will rake and remove thatch in vernal pools to prepare for planting endangered Sebastopol Meadowfoam seeds while following COVID-19 safety protocol and learning from Laguna Foundation education and restoration staff about the environmental field.

We will meet at the Highway 12 Laguna Trailhead parking lot and walk over to our site. Once we are there, you’ll get to explore, learn more about the project, and launch into hands-on experience with restoration tools. Space is limited and spots will be filled first come, first serve, so RSVP today! No experience is needed and tools will be provided.

Please note: A completed release of liability form will be required on the day of the event for all teen participants. This form will be sent in an email prior to the event. A mask, close-toed shoes, and a water bottle are required for this event. Long pants, a light long sleeve shirt, a sunhat, and gloves are highly recommended.

This is a free event! There is no charge for this event, which is made possible by the voters of Sonoma County who fund the work of Ag + Open Space with a quarter-cent sales tax.
