Event description

Description

An evening focused on the work of Cassava Republic Press, the African publishing house which launched in the UK in April 2016 with the aim of "changing the way the world thinks about African writing".

Founder Bibi Bakare-Yusuf will talk about Cassava Press’ eclectic list of literary fiction, crime, young adult fiction, children’s books, and romantic fiction which "spotlights the vibrancy and diversity of prose by African writers on the continent and in the diaspora".

Bibi is joined by Cassava press author Leye Adenle. A Nigerian crime writer, Leye will talk about his new novel Easy Motion Tourist and reflect on the resurgence of crime and thriller writing from Africa. Easy Motion Tourist is a contemporary thriller pulsating with the rhythms of Lagos and entertains from beginning to end. The Guardian said that it’s “Fast and furious, told from a kaleidoscope of different points of view, it’s a rollercoaster ride through a world of extremes, where everything is up for grabs.”

Target Audience: Adults
