Red Sonya has consistently been DJing at electronic dance music events, festivals, lounges and clubs in Southern California and Mexico, ever since she put the needle on her first record. She has kept a busy social calendar over the years with several weekly and monthly residencies, plus special appearances in Los Angeles and Baja California, also while producing her own Lady Lush events and supporting other local promoters and DJs. She has made her presence known in San Diego as an inspiring artist and dedicated supporter of the dance music community.

House Music was her first vinyl fetish, and DJs like Mark Farina, Donald Glaude and DJ Dan were her inspiration. Spending her first years as a DJ working as an ‘opening’ DJ, her music collection quickly grew to include Down Tempo, Trip Hop, Funk, Soul, as well as Tech House, Techno and Drum & Bass. Her diversity and wide range of musical taste scored her a variety of gigs, and learning how to play multiple genres helped mold her into the DJ she is today. Whether she’s rocking a banging tech house set to a moving dance floor or playing a downbeat set at a sushi restaurant or art gallery, she never disappoints. Whatever style of music she’s playing, Red Sonya plays from her heart and soul.

Mary Droppinz

That feeling when you get home from a long day at work…crank up your favorite jam, and dance like no one’s watching, all while bathing in the highs of the vocals and the lows of the bass. The immense feeling when a choir elevates sound to the maximum.

Mary Droppinz aka Alyssa Johnson born in Omaha, Nebraska, pulled inspiration for beats and musical brilliance from her father’s love for deep drum sounds. Exuding this through her sound, she is nothing short of inspiring. With initial desire and passion of being a fashion designer, Mary found the all mighty power within music and recreated the sensations of pure bliss for her audience on the dance floor. This sound isn’t your typical heads down, lights out, too cool for school techno. Like it did for her, this sound was designed to take dark moments and transform them into moments of euphoria. Mary Droppinz curates pure passion for the genre and all its potential to heal not only spiritually but sexually as well. Don’t get it twisted though: given the right moment to use her weapons, Mary will bring the heart racing, body shaking, dirty, heavy hitter beats. This has landed her several shows (such as Exchange LA) all across Los Angeles and beyond.

Since making LA her home, Mary has been dedicated to perfecting her craft to make speakers and music lovers shake the booty bass. With an arsenal of melodic weapons, bass line belters and deep knowledge of the connected party culture, Droppinz wields the deep techno arts like a DJ well beyond her years. Keep an eye out for this phenomenal artist on the rise.

Arielle Z

Hailing from Florida by way of Los Angeles, Arielle Z grew up in a performing family—she acted, danced, and eventually did stunt work for film, television, and advertising. In 2009, she moved to LA to pursue multiple creative endeavors where her hunger for knowledge and thirst to express herself continued her career in entertainment. After seeing her acrobat friends dance to Destructo's sexy and dark set for the entire Diavolo cirque show at The Greek theatre in LA, and listening to KCRW as a long time supporter, she found her DJ life taking root. Her first Burning Man led her to buy equipment and start making mixes, inspired to play at camps and on art cars.

A lover of music from all over the world, and an Aquarius with chameleonic tendencies, her selections actually come from her dance background—where the priority is, how will the beat physically move the body to express its emotions?

"Music has such an effect on what frequency you vibrate on," Arielle says. "I want my audience to feel positive vibrations to aid them in what feelings they are either seeking, and then help take them to a place they never expected. I want them to feel groovy and sexy. To move with it in the most natural way until their soul is satisfied and cleansed."

You can catch Arielle DJing yoga classes and workshops, applying her understanding of the sequencing of different types of yoga classes through her long-time practice and involvement in yoga community. You can also catch her DJing outside, in the sunshine, by the water, with some dirty booty bouncing beats. There is no vibe left untouched.

Macoe

Although Macoe got her first introduction to turntables 15 years ago, she just started building a serious collection and mixing about 5 years ago. She doesn’t like to label what she plays; She just picks songs that she loves and doesn’t hear played that often by others. Most of her current influences are European, including talented artists and DJs from Germany, Russia, Hungary, France, etc. When she started, she thought she’d just be a bedroom dj, but with the encouragement of supportive friends, she started playing out and has been happy to play at some great venues over the last few years. She is also one half of the DJ team These Siamese.
