Shannon Barbosa, a forty year old Christian woman, wife, mother, speaker, youth minister, writer, and founder of From the Ruins. From the Ruins is a ministry that longs to help hurting and grieving people to find hope amidst their brokenness. This organization helps people who are dealing with loss in many practical ways.

Shannon and her family became acquainted with grief first hand in 2013, when she and her husband lost their oldest son in a car accident. Writing and sharing her story has played a pivotal role in Shannon’s healing. She speaks and writes with transparency and believes that being real with God is vital to true restoration. The Lord is near to the broken hearted. It is Him alone who holds the power to restore, therefore faking it is a waste of time and only hinders the healing process. Whether you’ve experienced physical loss of a loved on or you’ve suffered a relational loss, whether you’ve lost your home, or your job, or your health is suffering – Shannon’s words will minister to you. All have experienced loss of some kind, therefore we’ve all known grief. Shannon has spoken at several local churches throughout Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts and is in the process of having her first book published.

Ave Maria Hovsepian was born in Detroit, Michigan, but spent the majority of her childhood and adolescence in East Haven, Connecticut. From an early age, Ave Maria attended church with her family and gave her heart to the Lord at the age of 9. When she was 17, Ave Maria felt that God was directing her to attend Zion Bible College located in Barrington, Rhode Island (North Point Bible College, Haverhill, MA), there she majored in Biblical Studies with a focus on missions. During that time, Ave Maria was introduced to her husband, Arsen Hovsepian at Cranston Bible Chapel whom she was married to in 2008. She became CBCs Youth leader, adult Sunday school teacher, worship team member, and helped in multiple other ministries. Ave Maria and Arsen continued to live in Rhode Island for 7 years and recently relocated to Clinton, Connecticut. Currently, Ave Maria serves as the Vibrant Women’s Ministry Leader at Shoreline Community Church in Branford, Connecticut and also works within medical research where she manages radiopharmaceutical distribution for clinical trials.
