Event description

Description

Our 2017 Theater Special Event consists of 2 One-Act plays performed in a single night. We simply call it: Ladies and Lights.

As We Forgive Those

Directed by Monika Schultz, a longtime Assistant Director and Loveland High School and UNC Alum, the night opens with a 3-woman show, As We Forgive Those. When Sophie's teenage sister, Alex, turns up at her flat one evening after an absence of four years, Sophie's suspicions are roused. Why is she there? Where has she been? And how does she know so much about Sophie's life? Then when Sophie's roommate Jen arrives home, she recognizes Alex from the previous evening — as the person who mugged her.

This tense one-act play of three women explores the conflicting bonds of family, faith, and friendship.

Reduced Hamlet

Directed by Danny Hollweg, the LHS Theater Director, the night closes with a 3-woman performace of Williams Shakespeare's Hamlet (Abridged). Executed in 45 minutes, this ensemble plays multiple roles to introduce everyone from the Ghost to Ophelia to King Claudius to Hamlet, himself. This abridged, fast-pace, witty, and engaging romp whisks the audience through the tragedy of the Prince of Denmark with a bit of hilarity along the way. Be ready to participate.
