Event description

Description

Superintendent Michelle King is convening the second L.A. Unified Sharing Promising Practices Together Forum to bring together school staff, teachers, administrators and civic partners to network and share promising practices. This forum will celebrate school leaders for the accomplishments achieved during the 2016-17 school year and position educators to learn from each other in preparation for the new school year.

L.A. Unified is home to a diverse network of schools working toward our unifying goal of 100 percent graduation. The second Sharing Promising Practices Together forum calls attention to the academic and socio-emotional needs of our learners during the middle school years, and how student achievement can be accelerated by leveraging the neuroscience of learning.

What to Expect:

  • Opening remarks from Superintendent Michelle King and representatives from the Los Angeles Board of Education;
  • A menu of workshop presentations for educators about programs and services for adolescent youth during the middle school years;
  • Keynote by Dr. Judy Willis, M.D., M.Ed. to introduce how educators can leverage the neurology of education and teaching practices to engage adolescent youth in the classroom (www.RADTeach.com); and
  • Enjoy breakfast and lunch with a network of educational partners representing school models from across the L.A. Unified School District.
