Event description
Join LA-based providers, advocates, and young people to discuss how we center the needs of young parents in the foster care system.

About this Event

Join the Los Angeles Reproductive Health Equity Project for Foster Youth (LA RHEP) for a dynamic roundtable discussion and strategy session on ways providers can support, uplift, and empower expectant and parenting youth in Los Angeles County's foster care system. This event will include:

Keynote Presentation | Head, Heart, & Hands: Centering the Needs of Young Parents in Foster Care

Better understand the data (both statistical and story-driven) that amplifies the unique needs of young parents in the foster care system and what LA County is doing to better support their self-determination, including the evaluation results from the LA County Expectant and Parenting Youth (EPY) Conferences.

Panel Presentation | Parenting from Systems of Care

Hear directly from young people with lived experience parenting while in foster care, as well as some of the local providers who support them.

Breakout Sessions | Practical Strategies to Support Expectant & Parenting Youth in Foster Care

Attendees will be broken up into small groups, facilitated by local experts and providers, to dive more deeply into topics that impact young parents in foster care.

Lunch will be provided!

If you have any questions about the EPY Roundtable please contact Felicia Reyes, LA RHEP Program Associate (freyes@youthlaw.org).

About Us:

The Los Angeles Reproductive Health Equity Project for Foster Youth (LA RHEP) is an innovative public-private campaign to dismantle systemic barriers that youth in Los Angeles County foster care face when accessing sexual and reproductive health services and education. Over the next decade, our goal is to significantly reduce the inequitable reproductive and sexual health outcomes and experiences faced by youth in LA's foster care system, including disproportionately high rates of unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, as well as lack of sexual health education and obstruction of access to care.
