This year we are proud to announce that at this year's Dinner will be held during the State Bar Convention in San Jose. We will be paying tribute to State Bar President Elect, Luis Rodriguez of Los Angeles. Luis will be sworn in at the State Bar Convention on October 10th in San Jose and he will become the first Latino President of the State Bar in its nearly 100 year history. Luis has been a longtime Deputy Public Defender in Los Angeles County and is a graduate of Santa Clara University. He has served as President of the Mexican American Bar Association of Los Angeles County and President of the California La Raza Lawyers Association as well as a member of numerous other committees and organizations within and without the legal community. Join us in celebrating his achievements.
Latino Lawyers still only represent 4% of the State Bar and only 6% of those taking the bar exam each year in California, while nearly 40% of Californians are Latino. Our profession needs to change and supporting Latino Law Students into becoming successful lawyers in one important component.
Contributions in the past have helped us provide over $100,000 to benefit bay Area Latino law students. Students receive awards based on their community involvement and financial need, among other factors. Your financial contribution this year will help carry on this tradition as the Foundation serves its commitment to serve the community.
In 2006, La Raza Lawyers Association established a separate and independent La Raza Lawyers of Santa Clara County Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) entity. The Foundation tax identification number is 59-3816862. All contributions beyond the cost of the dinner will be for the benefit of the Foundation and are, of course, tax deductible.

When & Where
La Raza Lawyers Charitable Foundation
The La Raza Lawyers Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) corporation, was established in 2006 through the joint efforts of the Santa Clara County La Raza Lawyers Association and the Legal Aid Society of Santa Clara County. The idea for the creation of the Foundation was the brain child of the late Andrew Gonzalez who was a member of both organizations and was instrumental in creating an endowed scholarship fund to benefit Bay Area Latino law students.
