About This Event
Alongside Celebrate Mexico Now Festival and Cantina Cumbancha, visual artist Cuevawolf presents her premiere exhibition La Lotería Viva, the first photographic reinterpretation of the originally illustrated Mexican lotería game made with people and real objects. Cuevawolf calls the Latinx community to gather and help immigrant families who need to find their way back to each other.

All ticket proceeds and part of the profits raised through a silent auction of the “La Dama” portrait will be donated to Make the Road NY, an organization helping immigrant families in New York State stay together.

The exhibition consists of 54 images, each representing a card from the original game’s deck. This remarkable collection offers an escape into a world that exists between reality and fantasy. Just like Mexico itself, it evokes a strong sense of magical realism. The photographs make up an extraordinary exhibition that embodies the country’s spirit and resurgence in an unprecedented way.

About The Artist
Cuevawolf was born in Monterrey, Mexico, and currently resides in New York City. Her work explores themes such as feminism, social science, the divine, and self-identity through storytelling. She uses video, photography, design, collage, and writing as tools to research emotion, language, and self-awareness. Cuevawolf earned her BA in Art Direction from Miami Ad School and her BFA from Parsons, The New School in New York.
