Dr. Gillian Ahlgren Xavier University (Cincinnati) will be speaking on the influence of Teresa de Ávila, San Juan de la Cruz, and San Ignacio de Loyola on the Americas. These three Spaniards brought about considerable, revolutionary changes to spiritual and literary culture of the 16th century. The presentation on the contributions and legacies of these three figures will touch on their practices of poetry, mysticism, and education. Dr. Ahlgren is a professor of theology at Xavier University (Cincinnati). She earned her doctorate at the University of Chicago, and specializes in the mystical tradition and theological, spiritual and cultural contributions to literature.
The presentation will be in English and Spanish.
