The Retreat:

*2 Dynamic Yoga Practices a Day*
Our retreat together in Italy is all about slowing down, tuning in, and savoring the sweetness of life. The morning practice will energize you for the day ahead while the evening practice will encourage spaciousness, rest, and ease.

Each morning, we meet the day on a stunning outdoor yoga platform overlooking the sparkling turquoise sea of Positano for a strong alignment based vinyasa yoga designed to awaken your core, energize and open your body, and invigorate you for the day ahead. We will practice Slow Flow Vinyasa in the mornings - setting the rhythm of the heartbeat and the breath to really drop in and reconnect to the spark of Spirit. Practice will be strong, steady, and sumptuous and all levels are most welcome.

Take the rest of the day to get a massage onsite on the yoga platform overlooking the sea, lounge by the pool with a book, adventure to the beach via footpath, explore the nearby towns of Positano or Montepertuso, take an Italian cooking class, or treat yourself to a gelato.

We meet again in a beautiful enclosed studio with walls of windows for a gentler early evening practice focused on seated postures, hip openers, twists, forward folds, and restoratives to guide us into deep relaxation, equilibrium, and spaciousness. Afternoon practices will be sumptuously grounding. You will walk in, and float out ready to savor the organic farm to table meal prepared by our hosts.

One day will consist of a 2 hour Inner Fire Flow practice, where we will rise early and go deep in the practice and allow time for integration, meditation, and grounding so that the entire afternoon is free (without the afternoon yoga practice) to enjoy your guided boat tour to Capri (private boat tour included in the retreat rate).

*Rustic Italian Charm: Your Retreat Center*
Our retreat center is the perfect sanctuary to live the simple life: the beauty and simplicity of the retreat center create the perfect backdrop to really relax into the healthy rhthym of your day and reconnect to the joy of living. We awake each morning to swoon at the beauty of the stunning Amalfi Coastline, move our bodies, savor the delicous tastes of the Italian diet, and cherish new friendships and the beautiful culture all around us. The ancient stone guest house is located on a hill overlooking the Positano sea and surrounded by nature. Nestled among olive and lemon trees, the retreat center is a place of calm and quiet, exuding authentic rustic Italian charm.

The retreat center is accessible only by foot, from two different paths, and it takes about 15/25 minutes to reach from the main road. Plan to bring your hiking boots and sensible shoes and leave the heels for your night out in Rome! There is a lift provided for your luggage, so you do not need to carry it down the trail.

From the retreat center, a 30 minute walk across a panoramic path takes you to the center of Positano and the gorgous beaches.

There are two large wooden yoga platforms overlooking the sea, one of which has roof and windows in case of rain. Props and mats are available for your use on the property.

For the rock climbers amongst us there is abundant gorgeous rock climbing routes easily accessible from the property.

*Farm to Table Dining*
Our hosts prepare vegetarian-mediteranean and organic meals with our fresh products of the garden. They also have home-made extra virgin olive oil, honey, oranges, lemons, tangerine, figs jam, marmalades, limoncello (and other liquors), and natural cosmetics which are made in small batches onsite. All the products are organic and hand made.

*Boat Tour to Capri - included*
Departing from Positano our private boat tour begins with a journey to the fascinating archipelago of “Li Galli”, mythological home of the three sirens of the Odyssey: Partenope, Leucosia and Ligia. It is from this mythology that the archipelago derived its name from Greek iconography of mermaids made of half woman and half bird.

After this fascinating leap into the myth of Ulysses, the tour continues to Nerano, with a mandatory stop for lunch at one of the many famous restaurants for dishes based on fish and for the delicious “Spaghetti alla Nerano.”

Back on board our private boat, we will admire the picturesque beaches of Marina del Cantone, Recommone and Crapolla, as we head to Punta Campanella, known for its stunning views and the natural park.

Once we arrive in Capri, we will tour the White Grotto, known for its impressive white stalagmite resembling the Virgin in the act of prayer, then pass through the Natural Arch.

We will make a brief stop at the Marina Piccola, for refreshments and continue towards the Green Grotto, past the Lighthouse of Punta Carena, and up to one of the greatest beauties of the island: the Grotta Azzurra.

We continue on to the Blue Grotto where sculptures have been found from the Roman period.

The last stop is at the Port of Capri, where you will be able to come down and visit this wonderful island by foot. The attractions are numerous and each one really worth a visit: from the numerous villas, the ancient center of Anacapri with its characteristic views and the cable car, the charming Charterhouse of San Giacomo and the same little square of Capri.

*Italian Cooking Lesson - included*
Italian chef, Francesco Nicolai, offers a quick and funny pasta-making class. Fresh pasta is one of the most popular italian dishes, both in Italy and all over the world. Under Nicolai’s expert tutelage, you will learn how to prepare fresh ravioli, lasagne, cannelloni and tagliatelle (vegan for those who so choose), ready to be cooked with the fresh produce grown onsite at the Retreat Center’s organic farm. In this class, the flour will be organic stone-ground durum wheat, provided by Salvatore Cappelli.

*Our Location - Positano*
From the Lonely Planet: “Positano is the coast’s most picturesque and photogenic town, with vertiginous houses tumbling down to the sea in a cascade of sun-bleached peach, pink and terracotta colours. No less colourful are its steep streets and steps lined with wisteria-draped hotels, smart restaurants and fashionable boutiques.
There’s still a southern-Italian holiday feel about the place, with sunbathers eating pizza on the beach, kids pestering parents for gelati and chic women from Milan checking out the boutiques. The fashionista history runs deep – moda Positano was born here in the '60s and the town was the first in Italy to import bikinis from France.
John Steinbeck visited in 1953 and wrote in an article for Harper’s Bazaar: ‘Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone'.”

*Pick up and Drop Off from Naples*
Enzo, our driver awaits us in an air conditioned mini van from Naples Train Station. It is a 90 minute drive to Positano and he helps us find the luggage lift and the pathway to the retreat center. He also gives us a ride back to the Naples Train Station on the last day.

*Optional: Additional Wine Tour - not included, priced separately and optional*
Enzo, our driver, has offered to pick us up for a tour to a local winery for those interested.

*The Teacher-Lily Dwyer Begg*
I have been teaching yoga full time for eleven years, led retreats in Hawaii, Mexico, and California Wine Country. My work is a labor of love and has brought me to teach in yoga studios internationally, to work therapeutically with private clients, to teach for an NBA basketball team, an NCAA Diving team, at the San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Ballet.

I am inspired by my students who I am so fortunate to get to meet each day on the mat. I am inspired by the seeds of study that continue to blossom and root from my studies with Shiva Rea, Ana Forrest, Don and Amba Stapleton, David Moreno, yoga for scoliosis with Elise Browning Miller, Ayurveda with Kameko Shibata, and Prenatal yoga with Marisa Toriggino. My hands on assists and presence reflect my training as a licensed massage therapist and I am continually inspired by my massage and anatomy teachers including Art Riggs, Thomas Myers, and Narelle Carter-Quinlan. I am inspired by my loving husband and two year old son who teaches me at the same time to let go, trust, love, and laugh with my whole being and also to remember how fleeting this all is.
