La Cocina's SFSFF Raffle 2014
Event Information
Description
Let's EAT!
La Cocina is back for a final year with the
6th Annual San Francisco Street Food Festival! (on Folsom St.)
On its last year on Folsom Street, La Cocina invites all Bay Area residents who have never had the chance to attend to come to what CNN calls one of “the world’s best food festivals” for everything from banh mi to bhelpuri and barbacoa (though probably not all together). And if you’ve been before (even you one star Yelpers), join us one more time for an unparalleled celebration of good food.
The Rowdy Raffle - $50
We've got a raffle for the ages with a little help for our friends in the food industry to benefit festival organizer La Cocina. Purchase a single raffle ticket for $50. La Cocina will be limiting raffle sales to 1,000 tickets, guaranteeing every ticket a 1 out of 50 chance of winning. You will be entered to win from over 20 crazy items with an average value of $600 including (but by no means limited to!):
- a foodie's dream trip to Nashville, Tennessee with free travel, meals at Sean Brock's Husk, City House, Martin's BBQ and Arnold's and $500 in lodging vouchers from Airbnb.
- a meal for you and 9 friends prepared by the staff of La Cocina (with over 40+ restaurants and catering companies between them!)
- an omakase with beverage pairings for 2 at Ichi Sushi
- a private wine tour of for up to 6 people of the home estate of Gundlach Bundschu in the winery's vintage Pinzgauer.
Organizer La Cocina
Organizer of La Cocina's SFSFF Raffle 2014
La Cocina is a ground-breaking incubator that cultivates low-income food entrepreneurs as they formalize and grow their businesses. We do this by providing affordable, shared, commercial kitchen space; industry-specific technical assistance and services; and access to market opportunities and capital.
La Cocina works to solve the problems of equity in business ownership; inclusivity in the mainstream American marketplace; barriers to entry for women, people of color and immigrant business owners; and the high cost of entry in the food industry.
In an increasingly expensive economy, La Cocina businesses have succeeded at a rate that far exceeds the national average, graduating 60+ entrepreneurs, launching 30 brick-and-mortar restaurants, creating hundreds of jobs, and generating $16MM+ in revenue in 2019.
By the end of March 2020 in the pandemic, 70% of La Cocina-born businesses lost 100% of their revenue. As a nation, we lack the structural support systems to properly care for hourly workers and small business owners. It’s time to advocate together for immediate support and change.
