Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 9:00 AM - Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 8:00 AM
Los Angeles, CA
The 5K run/walk is an out and back course that takes participants into the main entrance to Dodger Stadium. The course begins on North Broadway for approximately 1/3 mile, then turns left onto Bishops Road. An immediate right turn at Stadium Way takes you under the 110 freeway into Dodger Stadium for about a 1 mile uphill climb.
This distance includes a right turn into Dodger Stadium. Inside Dodger Stadum the course winds up and down the parking lot providing views of downtown Los Angeles and a traffic free enviroment to enjoy your run or walk. The course doubles back and returns to North Broadway leading back to Chinatown and the finish line. Water is provided at 2 points along this 5K course.
The 10K course is a challenging run through the hills of Elysian Park. From N. Broadway, the course climbs up into the park to its highest elevation (see elevation map). The course winds high over the Figueroa Tunnels above the 110 freeway, through tree-lined rolling hills with the summit of Angels Point providing spectacular 180 degrees of the city. The early morning vistas of Downtown Los Angeles, Glendale, Mt. Wilson, the Hollywood Sign, Dodger Stadium, and the LAPD Academy are the hard earned and breathtaking sights of the 10K course that very few Angelenos will ever see. Water stations are provided at 3 points along the 10K route.
Free bag check and bike valet service for registered cyclist.
For 2014, the Firecracker Bike Ride will offer cyclists the option of an easy 20mi (mostly flat) or very challenging 30mi+ (hilly) route. Water station/rest stop provided along the routes. Please observe all traffic laws on the ride.
If arriving by car, please be aware of no parking signs, the need to pay parking meters, and tow zones. Parking meters are enforced on Saturdays.
We strongly encourage participants to take advantage of the Metro Gold Line (Chinatown Station exit) located one block from the event site. For your best route or more info, visit the Metro Trip Planner or call (323) Go Metro or (323) 466-3876.
This is a fun run for all young athletes ages 12 and under. The run is approximately 1 kilometer (approx 2/3 mile). The event begins with warm up exercises and a short discussion about exercising and the importance of reading. The course features a turnaround at Bishops Rd., then back to the official finish line. Upon crossing the finish line, each runner will be awarded a commemorative finisher medal, and then directed to a carnival in the Kiddie Run area for all registered Kiddie Run participants from 7-11am, with carnival games, face painting, petting zoo, puppet show, etc. A goodie bag awaits all Kiddie Run registrants.
