Event Details

Greetings OST Program Staff and Partners!

The Kentucky Out of School Alliance (KYOSA)  has been presented with a tremendous opportunity made available through the generosity of the NBA Players Association!

The NBA Math Hoops program is centered on a basketball board game and supplemental math curriculum that engages 4-8th grade students through the statistics of their favorite NBA/WNBA players. Skills covered range from basic operations to graphing, stats, and decision-making with numbers. With the support of the NBA Players Association, Learn Fresh will provide all games and materials at no cost to participating sites. Though ideally utilized in Afterschool and Out-of-School settings, many principals have begun using this wonderful resource in the classroom due to its successful engagement strategies.

Once students are introduced to the program they will be eligible to compete in a national incentive program, in which the top students receive NBA apparel and local game tickets in exchange for outstanding participation. Learn Fresh will also host a state specific regional tournament for top achieving students in Kentucky, during the spring of 2017.

KYOSA invites you to participate in the exciting upcoming training in the location of your choice.

Particulars and Logistics

Learn Fresh and the NBA will be conducting regional trainings across the state during Nov/Dec.  Since all materials, resources, and trainings are free of charge to participating programs, space will be made available on a first come, first serve basis.

  • Ideally, we are seeking programs that have a good rapport with their school systems and local LEA to access relevant data to track student progression and achievement.
  • KYOSA has received great reports from other Out of School Time State Network Leaders on how they have personally witnessed student enjoyment and engagement with Math Hoops while unknowingly using critical thinking math skills. Therefore, we are so excited to have this great opportunity to invite NBA Math Hoops to 4 different locations in our state to provide their training to our out of school time programs in Kentucky.
  • If you are interested in taking advantage of this great opportunity, please complete the registration for the Regional training date and location you plan on attending. Registration required for each participant.  Do not delay - the available slots per regional training will fill very quickly.

Each event begins at 10 AM and ends at 12:30 PM.
