Kupata Fahamu is Phx's newest Ivan Van Sertima Cultural Circle. The purpose of this circle is to provide a space for people of Afrikan descent to discuss knowledge of self and to rewrite the narrative our oppressors have been telling us for centuries. This meetup is not meant for observatory purposes. Please do not register just to sit and observe. These sessions are for healing purposes for those people of Afrikan descent so that they may overcome significant generational traumas that have been passed down for centuries.

The current topic of discussion for the upcoming months will be addressing the myth of the black inferiority complex that our people are still suffering from today.

For more information about joining a circle or just to learn more, please leave a message below and the administrator will reach out to you.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Nope, this is a family event. All ages are welcome!

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Meetings are hosted at the cultural circle member's homes, so wherever the home is located will determine what type of parking is available. Please contact the orgainzer the night before or day of the event to find out more details

What can I bring into the event?

Bring a pencil/pen and note pad to take notes. Also bring the book: Brainwashed by Tom Burrell, if you have it. Also feel free to bring any healthy food to the meeting as a donation (please know that this is NOT required as the members will provide organic chips and salsa and potentially any other healthy foods that the group promotes).

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

If you have any questions/concerns/comments, please email them to info@afrikancenteredinstitute.org

What's the refund policy?

If you find out that you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible as space is limited. Once it is confirmed, a refund will be issued to you in the amount of the ticket you purchased. Please allow 3-10 business days to see it reflected in your bank account or credit card statement.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

No, you can only purchase one ticket per a person. Children under 18 are free and are not required to be registered for these meetings. We do this so we can have a corresponding email for every registered guest name for any follow-up events.
