Discover Kung Fu & Self-Defence in Battersea Park

Join our friendly outdoor martial arts sessions in the heart of Battersea Park. Learn real-world self-defence, improve your fitness, and develop calm and confidence — all in a welcoming, beginner-friendly environment.

After class, feel free to join us for a relaxed social at the Pear Tree Café nearby!

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to handle punches and common attacks
  • Footwork and movement to avoid strikes
  • Conditioning to safely absorb impacts
  • Flexibility, balance, and mobility drills
  • Breathing and meditation techniques for focus and calm

These classes are taught at a safe, progressive pace, suitable for beginners and all fitness levels.

When & Where:

🗓 Saturdays 2:30–4:30pm
🗓 Wednesdays 6:30–8:30pm
📍 Battersea Park, by the central Bandstand
(We train under cover if it rains)


What to Bring:

  • Loose, comfortable clothing.
  • Water bottle.
  • No equipment needed — just enthusiasm!

🎟 First taster class: £15
🉐 New joiner offer (after your first class):

  • 4-class block: £48 (valid 2 months)
  • 8-class block: £88 (valid 4 months)

📅 After your first block:

  • 5-class block: £60 (valid 2 months)
  • 10-class block: £100 (valid 4 months)

All payments are made in advance. Blocks are non-refundable but allow plenty of flexibility.

Instructor Bio:

Joe Cheung is a 2nd Black Sash instructor in Baji Zhandao Kung Fu with over 12 years of teaching experience. His background also includes:

  • 10+ years Bujinkan Ninjutsu (2nd Dan Black Belt)
  • 2 years Urban Krav Maga
  • 15+ years in personal development and martial arts coaching

What is Baji Zhandao?

“Baji Zhandao” means Battlefield Style — a powerful and practical system combining:

  • Baji Quan
  • Yang Tai Chi Quan
  • Pigua Zhang
  • Tongbei Quan
  • Bagua Zhang
  • Xingyi Quan

It was developed by Grandmaster Chen Fu Sheng, a former Chinese Special Forces instructor with over 50 years of real-world combat and teaching experience.

Is the training safe for me? I'm a complete beginner!

Yes - all training is done in a very safe and controlled environment. Techniques are practiced very slowly at first, with greater speed applied as your skill improves.
