Event description
March for Meals St. Patrick's 5K Run/Walk is a fun run event to create awareness of senior hunger and to raise money for the Meals on Wheels

About this Event

March for Meals St. Patrick's 5K Run/Walk is a fun run event to create awareness of senior hunger and to raise money for the Meals on Wheels program in Osceola County through the Osceola Council on Aging.   It  is a fun run with a clock, so you can catch your time at the finish line!  We will award the top 10 male and 10 female overall finishers plus the top male and female finisher 65+. This year’s event will be some days before St. Patrick's Day (March 13th). Since we are so close to St. Patrick's Day, we are asking all participants to have fun with the color "green" by wearing your “lucky” green to celebrate ending Senior Hunger!  We are asking you to put together a team and participate in our "Team Challenge" category and win the “MOST SPIRITED TEAM” and/or “LARGEST TEAM” in 2021! So put your team together today and show your spirit and help us fight senior hunger by supporting the Meals on Wheels in Osceola County program (www.osceolagenerations.org)

We added a new group category for this year - Virtual Run/Walk, for those of you who wants to be part of the event but cannot be at the location for any reason. Sign up from anywhere in the world and participate at your own pace. Let us know where are you running or walking from!

Thank you for signing-up and we look forward to seeing you there!

The safety of everyone involved is very important for all of us at the Council on Aging. We have teamed up again with Strider's Event to make this race/walk a success. Together we have come up with some safety guidelines for the event!

2021 COVID-19 Safety Guidelines (as of January 2021):

The health and safety of our community is our priority. Each event will have a certain event capacity for "in person" & virtual participants. In-person events for the Spring of 2021 will be limited.Council on Aging is currently implementing the following safety protocols for in-person races. Additional details will be provided in the coming weeks.

Participants will be required to wear masks pre and post-race. Once you cross the starting line, masks can be removed and carried with you on the course.

All race staff and volunteers are required to wear personal protective gear that includes face masks, gloves, etc.

Race capacities will be limited to ensure physical distancing and rolling start waves based off the registered number of participants. We will estimate 3-4 minutes between each pulse at the start with each pulse consisting of 75-100 people (depending on room & space at the start area).

Kids races will temporarily be suspended.

Stroller participation will temporarily be suspended.

Hand wash and sanitizing stations will be accessible throughout the venue and at the course water stop location.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottles and sealed water bottles will be available at water stations and the finish line.

We will offer one on course water stop that will offer 8oz size sealed bottles of water. Participants must grab their own bottle. Volunteers will not be handing them out but simply restocking the table(s).

Council on Aging have been working closely with local officials on increased safety protocols due to COVID-19. Please note that Council on Aging reserves the right at anytime to change the event to a virtual event pending city and county discretion and the safety of our participants, volunteers, staff and our community.
