Event description

Description

The Kū ‘Āina Pā School Garden Teacher Training Program’s 2019 Intensive will introduce teachers to the Hawai‘i School Garden Curriculum Map and identify strategies to integrate it with the Hawai‘i State Department of Education’s Nā Hopena A‘o(HĀ) cultural framework. The four-day training will address four fundamental components of teaching and learning in a school garden: A Sense of Place, Living Soil and Living Plant, Nourishment, and Nature’s Design.

Registration fees are $300 for one attendee or $250 per attendee for institutions sending teams of two or more. Fees include course materials and lunch + snacks each day, which is set for 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Please be sure to make your own housing and transportation arrangements.

If you wish to be invoiced and pay by check, please contact Jessica Sobocinski for special instructions before registering at jessica.sobocinski@foodcorps.org.

To complete your registration, please complete this survey before August 23rd.

Since 2012, The Kohala Center’s Kū ‘Āina Pā School Garden Teacher Training Program has graduated nearly 130 K-8 educators who have gone on to become pioneers and champions for garden-based learning in Hawai‘i’s schools. Kū ‘Āina Pā can support your school to create and sustain a garden-based ecoliteracy program, and strengthen your teaching and learning practices by connecting to a strong community of like-minded colleagues.
