Santa Monica, United States

5:15pm-6:30pm: Docents available to discuss the site at the Marion Davies Guest House
6:30-7:30pm: Performative Lecture
Join us for a "performative lecture" by acclaimed performance artist and acerbic comedian Kristina Wong as she presents work-in-progress research for the Wong Street Journal, a new solo play that will combine self-skewering personal narrative with theatric re-imagining of heady economic theory to illuminate the overwhelming issues of global poverty. Known for her trademark wit and explorations of intense social issues in accessible, moving and hilarious ways, this evening will take us through Kristina’s creative process as she presents notes and footage from her recent field research with the Women’s Global Empowerment Fund, an organization that develops programs to reduce poverty and the marginalization of women in Gulu, Uganda. Kristina will share what she’s learned about the developing economy in Gulu and how it intersects with our lives in America, and also preview new sections of this show. This is an opportunity to share in her creative process towards an ambitious new solo work that will premiere in 2015. Light reception follows, sponsored by Cinema Libre Studio, cinemalibrestudio.com.
