Event description

Description

Tickets go on sale Monday, September 17, at 10 am.

Tickets are $6 in advance (reserved seats). Remaining seats are free on the day of the concert beginning at 6:30 pm.

Korean court music and shaman ritual meet free jazz in this creative encounter convened by gamin, a multi-instrumentalist. She performs on traditional mouth organ (saenghwang) and double-reed instruments (piri and taepyongso), joined by New York improvisational stars Ned Rothenberg (bass clarinet), Satoshi Takeishi (percussion), and Jeff Fairbanks (trombone).

They blend folk, classical, and improvisational styles with contemporary jazz in this unique collaboration, which includes their original interpretation of Don Cherry’s Mopti. Made possible with generous support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea.
