Event description

Description

Konversations is a free monthly discussion with our principal and creative director, Tobias Rose, and special guests on a variety of topics. From entrepreneurship to digital strategy and everything creative and technical in between, we will discuss a different subject during each Konversation.

This month, we're going to talk about leaving entrepreneurship. Tobias met Mattie while location-scouting for The Foreign Exchange’s Leave It All Behind album. As a great friend and fellow entrepreneur, it’s good to speak with someone that understands the challenges and the solitude of what it is that you do. When Mattie told him that he was done with entrepreneurship, he was sad, but understood his reasoning. Tobias and Mattie will discuss what it took to leave entrepreneurship, the thinking behind it and why this decision is, sometimes, the best one.

Mattie Beason has been in the Durham restaurant business for the last 20 years. He has most recently seen success with Six Plates Wine Bar, a small plates and pairing bar; gastropub Mattie B's Public House; and Black Twig Cider House, a cider and food pub. He has been a part of the cider community and active in the United States Association of Cider Makers for the last six years. Recently, Mattie has started on a new path furthering his interest in cider by joining Stem Ciders out of Denver, Colorado.

If you’re interested in networking, be sure to arrive at 6:30pm. The hour-long discussion will begin at 7pm. Konversations are open to the public, but a ticket is required for entry. Each discussion is filmed and published to our YouTube channel.
