Event description

Description

You're invited to attend our first regional meeting of the Knoxville TN English Learner Network! The TN EL Network is a space through which educators, nonprofit partners, and other community groups serving EL, immigrant, and refugee students, engage around policy that impacts these students and families. Through convening and informing our members on issues pertaining to education and immigration policy at both the state and federal levels, our objective is to empower Tennessee educators and other relevant parties with the right tools and support they need to effectively advocate on behalf of the EL and immigrant children they serve.

In the spirit of the ESSA Bootcamp that precedes the EL Meet and Greet, attendees will get an overview of what Tennessee's Plan for the Every Student Succeeds Act means for English Learners and will become equipped to share this important information with their local networks and community members.

Come connect with fellow teachers, school leaders, and community partners for coffee and conversation on the current landscape surrounding EL education in Knoxville and what we can do to collectively further an equity-based agenda as a cohort of regional advocates for ELL and immigrant children. We look forward to meeting you!

There is no cost to attend and coffee and dessert will be provided.
