Event description

Description

YoloArts launches a guest speaker series with topics ranging from art, history and agriculture. Our first speaker is Susan Silvester, Sacramento artist whose work is part of Barn Gallery's current exhibition, Traditional Techniques: Contemporary Prints. Susan will talk about her printmaking work and also give a demonstration.

Susan Silvester is an interdisciplinary artist who is originally from NYC. Working in a variety of materials, she explores the possibilities of what different mediums express by using the same imagery. She recently won the Best in Show Award for the Effie Yeaw Art Where the Wild Things Are Exhibition at Sacramento Fine Arts Center.

"My interests lie in the use of imagery, specifically young adolescents, creatures such as bunnies, and imaginary landscapes as a vehicle to express emotions and relationships. For me, the narrative is in the realm of the psychological, rather than the literal."-Susan Silvester
