Willamette Valley Hospice and a few community partners will host a public symposium Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm.
The day will open with Western Oregon University Gerontologist Dr Margaret Manoogian addressing the ways we can have intimate conversations with family and friends regarding difficult topics such as end of life planning. The final presentation of the day will be “How to talk to your doctor” shared by Kaiser Permanente family physician Dr Aaron Hansen.
Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to choose three different breakout sessions from topics including:
o The Death with Dignity Act
o What You Need to Know About Advance Directives
o Financial Planning for the End of Life
o Memorial and Funeral Planning
o What are Hospice and Palliative Care and How Do They Work?
The $12 per person cost includes box lunches catered by Main Street Deli in Silverton. Lunch will also feature a presentation and music from Willamette Valley Hospice’s music therapy team. The symposium will be held at Dignity Memorial, 1350 Commercial St SE, Salem.
Registrations will be accepted at the door beginning at 7:30 am.
