We are raising money this Holiday Season to purchase new bicycles for deserving children in the Orlando community. All donations will be used to purchase bicycles that will be donated to children in the Orlando area as determined by guidance counselors and administrators from several nearby schools.
The bicycles which will be assembled at the South Orlando Kiwanis’ Annual Holiday Bike Build on December 10, 2016 at 1940 Conway Gardens Road, Orlando FL 32806. Volunteers are invited to help assemble the bikes starting at 9:00 a.m.
According to the National Center for Children in Poverty, 24% of children in central Florida are living in poverty and more than 13,700 are homeless. The Kiwanis Club of South Orlando works closely with the Guidance Counselors and Resource Officers of the schools in south Orlando to support these children and their families with food, blankets, clothes, and other items.
For more than a decade the Kiwanis Club of South Orlando as well as hundreds of volunteers from the community come together to build bikes to distribute to needy children in our area. Last year, we were also able to provide safety helmets. In total, we have provided well over 3,000 bikes since the project’s conception.
Thank you for your donation! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
