Killing Defence with Barbara Seagram

The messages you can give your bridge partner are so exciting, it ought to be illegal! Learn how to beat your opponents’ contracts. Defence is the most exciting part of the game and also the most challenging.

Come join us for an exciting day! The workshop is in the morning, followed by a hot lunch and an ABCL sanctioned bridge game. You don't have to be member to participate.

About Barbara Seagram

Barbara Seagram owns and runs Toronto’s School of Bridge. Each year, tens of thousands of students of all levels come to learn bridge and improve their skills.

Barbara has won the Kate Buckman Award, given to the person who has contributed most to others’ enjoyment of the game and the Audrey Grant Award for teaching. She is a Sapphire Life Master and a frequent speaker at National American Bridge Championships. She is on the list of the top 52 bridge personalities that have most influenced the game.

Barbara is the co-author of 28 published bridge books, the most well-known being “25 Bridge Conventions You Should Know.” It is now in its 18th printing and has been translated into French, German, Japanese, and Danish. Portuguese is on its way! The book is one of the top five best-selling bridge books of the last 60 years.

Another passion of Barbara’s is her work in underdeveloped countries, in Africa, Cambodia and, Laos. Through her charity work, she has built and sustains five schools in Cambodia as well as setting up outreach programs for victims of landmine accidents. Her fundraising efforts have supplied thousands of water filters to citizens of Laos. She also works in Laos through the non-government organization, Adopt a Village.

Barbara loves to support local bridge events and community causes. More than anything, she loves to play bridge. Her favourite partner is her husband, Alex.
