Teach, Inspire, and Mentor a Future Engineer or Scientist

Fridays, 2:30-3:30 pm

Kimball Elementary School

3200 23rd Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144

Assist in teaching basic Science & Engineering concepts to 3rd through 5th graders. Serve as a role model of an engineer for girls and boys. No in-depth knowledge of weekly topics is needed.

Volunteer for one class or multiple classes:

Oct 27- Genetics : DNA (Candy Models)

Nov 3 - Genetics : Genetic Traits (Treat Necklace)

Nov 17 - Electricity : Circuits in Series (Wiring Light Bulbs)

Dec 1 - Electricity : Voltage & Circuits in Parallel (LEDs)

Dec 8 - Electricity : LEDs on a Breadboard

Jan 5 - Aerodynamics : Lift Surfaces (Airplane Wings)

Jan 12 - Aerodynamics : Control Surfaces (Flaps & Rudder)

Jan 19 - Statics : Triangle as a structure (Paper Bridges)

Jan 26 - Statics : Triangle Trusses (Toothpicks Bridges)

Feb 2 - Statics : Popsicle Bridge Building

Feb 9 - Statics : Popsicle Bridge Building

Feb 16 - Statics : Bridge Breaking

Prior to RSVP-ing, all volunteers need to complete a Volunteer Application and watch a video found on:

Kimball Elementary is a Title 1 school in the Seattle Public School District. It has a very diverse student body, and a vibrant community of parents and teachers. It is located in the North Beacon Hill neighborhood of south Seattle.
