In Iceland, most children know the medicinal properties of the local flora by the time they are seven or eight years old! In this class, we will follow that tradition by heading to the outdoors. Students will leave class with a basketful of herbs and a new understanding of the living medicine chest that surround us.
Each month, Nora will help students to identify and make friends with the plants. Students will learn how to cure bee and nettle stings, make an edible greens salad and a honeyed herbal elixir. The class will be outside for most of the time, so appropriate outdoor gear is recommended. Each class theme will be different from the previous month’s.
Please bring a small notebook that will become the student’s wildcrafting notebook and basket for foraging. Ages 8 and up. (Children younger than 8 are welcome to attend with a parent.)
