Kids' College 2019
The Gifted and Talented Office of Ingham Intermediate School District and Michigan State University are pleased to announce the 33rd year of Kids’ College for talented students. This collaborative venture improves and expands educational offerings for students who have outstanding abilities and/or potential talent in the content areas of science, technology, engineering and math. The content focus for 2019 is “Forces."

Program Eligibility
To be eligible for participation, a student:

  • Must currently be in grade 4 or grade 5
  • Must attend school in Ingham, Clinton, Eaton or Shiawassee counties with preference being given to students from Ingham County
  • Should have an interest in science
  • Must have demonstrated high potential for development in the sciences
  • Must have parental permission to participate

Scholarship Eligibility
To be eligible for scholarship consideration, a student must be:

Enrolled in Lansing School District - Full scholarships are available to all students currently enrolled in the Lansing School District. A current copy of your student's progress report must be submitted to lthomas@inghamisd.org.

OR

Low Income Family - Partial scholarships are available to families who qualify. Please submit a copy of your 2018 federal tax return to lthomas@inghamisd.org. Be sure to black out social security numbers to protect your identity before submitting.

Faculty
The faculty for Kids’ College consists of experienced classroom teachers who have completed study in graduate level courses in gifted education and science education.

Schedule
Kids’ College will operate from Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 19, 2019 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am each weekday in Berkey Hall on the campus of Michigan State University.

Transportation
Transportation must be provided by the parents/family to and from the program. Parents must have students at MSU by 8:30 AM each day of the program. It is important that parents arrive between 11:30 and 11:45 am to pick up students. The program coordinator and instructors will be available at Berkey Hall from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm each day. Specific instructions about where to drop off and pick up students will be given at the Orientation Meeting.

Orientation
An Orientation session will be held at East Lansing High School on the first day of camp. All parents (including those with approved transportation assistance) must plan to attend. Here additional information will be shared including camp expectations as well as pick up and drop off instructions. The orientation will last approximately 30-45 minutes. Your student will then be taken by bus from the high school to Berkey Hall. Plan to pick your child up at Berkey Hall between 11:30 and 11:45 am.
