Kids' College 2017

The Gifted and Talented Office of Ingham Intermediate School District and Michigan State University are pleased to announce the 31st year of Kids’ College for talented students. This collaborative venture is designed to improve and expand educational offerings for students who have outstanding abilities and/or potential talent in the content areas of science, technology, engineering and math. The content focus for 2017 is “Forces.”
To be eligible for participation, a student:
- Must currently be in grade 4 or grade 5
- Must attend school in Ingham, Clinton, Eaton or Shiawassee counties with preference being given to students from Ingham County
- Should have an interest in science
- Must have demonstrated high potential for development in the sciences
- Must submit a letter of recommendation from the principal, gifted and talented coordinator or classroom teacher
- Must have parental permission to participate
The faculty for Kids’ College consists of experienced classroom teachers who have completed study in graduate level courses in gifted education and science education.
Kids’ College will operate from Monday, July 10 through Friday, July 21, 2017 from 8:30am to 11:30am each weekday in Berkey Hall on the campus of Michigan State University.
The tuition for Kids’ College is $290.00 per student.
Students for whom financial need can be documented may apply for scholarship assistance. School districts may also be able to help students who need financial assistance.
Transportation will be available to students who reside within the Lansing School District service area. Contact Ingham ISD, Gifted and Talented Office, email@example.com for more information. For students who do not reside within the Lansing School District service area, transportation must be provided by the parents/family to and from the program. Parents must have students at MSU by 8:30 AM each day of the program. It is important that parents arrive between 11:30 and 11:45 AM to pick up students. The program coordinator and instructors will be available at Berkey Hall from 8:00am to 12:00pm each day. Specific instructions about where to drop off and pick up students will be given at the Orientation Meeting.
Upon completion of registration, an email will be sent confirming your registration, requesting addtional forms including Letter of Recommendation and Scholarship Requests with supporting documentation, and orientation information. All required documentation must be submitted no later than May 26, 2017.
