Mission Australia and The Institute of Child Protection Studies invites you to attend a two-day workshop on Kids Central Practice on the 3rd and 4th April from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
About the Kids Central Toolkit
The Kids Central Toolkit was developed by the Institute of Child Protection Studies, and seeks to support workers and services to adopt a child-centered practice in their work.
The Toolkit is based upon a set of key principles and messages that support child centered practice.
It includes over 50 tools to assist workers to support children and their families, and a Children's Assessment Guide (All About Me) to assist children to talk about issues that are important to them. The Toolkit can be accessed at: http://www.acu.edu.au/about_acu/faculties,_institutes_and_centres/centres/institute_of_child_protection_studies/kids_central_toolkit
About the Workshop
This two-day workshop provides workers with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in supporting children and their families, by using the Kids Central Toolkit. The training will be presented by Dr Tim Moore and Debbie Noble Carr and covers:
A theoretical and perspective on why working with children is important;
An overview of how children said they wanted to be supported;
A series of activities, games and tools to engage, support and enable children to talk about issues such as their needs, hopes and experiences, safety and 'tough stuff', and their involvement in services.
This event is sponsored by Mission Australia and Communities for Children and is a fully catered event.
