The Food for Life: Kickstart Your Health program can help one lose weight, maintain a healthy weight, or simply embrace an overall healthful diet. For some class participants, this will be the first time that choosing the right foods--instead of 'restricting' certain foods, counting calories, or 'portion control'-- has been the guiding principle for losing weight and staying healthy. Lower cholesterol, improved blood sugar, diabetes control, lower blood pressure, as well as improvements in energy and mood are some of the many benefits people experience through this lifestyle change.

The Food for Life: Kickstart Your Health curriculum is based on PCRM's successful 21-Day Vegan Kickstart online program (www.21DayKickstart.org). The online Kickstart program has helped 200,000 people adopt a plant-based diet to reach their health goals.
The Food for Life program is a community-based nutrition education program of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). PCRM is a nonprofit organization advancing preventive medicine, primarily good nutrition, and supports higher standards in research.
Angelique is the owner/ proprieter of Baagan Cafe, an accomplished vegan chef, and plant-based nutrition advocate. Her passion includes encouraging people toward a whole-foods, vegan lifestyle.
Bethany is an organizer for events throughout the local vegan community, including Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge. She is certified in plant-based nutrition through e-Cornell University, and teaches PCRM Food for Life classes on the health & nutrition benefits of a whole-foods, plant-based diet.
