About this Event
Jennifer Egan - Author of several novels and a short story collection. Her most recent novel, Manhattan Beach, a New York Times bestseller, was awarded the 2018 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction. Her previous novel, A Visit From the Goon Squad, won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Los Angeles Times book prize, and was recently named one of the best books of the decade by Time Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, and several others. Also a journalist, she has written frequently in the New York Times Magazine—most recently about pregnancy and childbirth among opioid-dependent women. She has just completed a three-year term as President of PEN America.
Victoria Redel - The author of five books of fiction and three books of poetry with a new collection of poetry forthcoming. Redel's work has been widely anthologized, translated and adapted for feature film. She's on the faculty of Sarah Lawrence College. She read He’s Back in the early KGB days and this piece appears in the2nd KGB Bar Fiction Reader, On the Rocks, edited by Rebecca Donner.
Ben Schrank - Written three novels including Miracle Man, his debut, which he read at KGB, in his first public reading. Also Consent, and Love is a Canoe. He is Publisher at Astra House and COO of Astra Publishing House. Ben read The Good Chance Chicken in the first year of the KGB BAR Fiction Series. This excerpt is included in the first KGB Bar Reader, edited by Ken Foster.
