About this Event
Dani Shapiro - Author of the instant New York Times best selling memoir, Inheritance, which was published in January 2019 by Knopf. Her other books include the memoirs Hourglass, Still Writing, Devotion, and Slow Motion, and five novels including Black & White and Family History. Along with teaching writing workshops around the world, Dani has taught at Columbia and New York University, and is the cofounder of the Sirenland Writers Conference in Positano, Italy. In February of 2019, she launched an original podcast, Family Secrets, in collaboration with iHeartMedia. An iTunes Top 10 podcast, the series featuresstories from guests who—like Dani— have uncovered life-altering and long-hidden secrets from their families’ past. She lives with her family in Litchfield County, Connecticut. Dani read Plane Crash Theory in the early days of the KGB Lit Series, which is published in the second fiction KGB Reader, “On the Rocks,” edited by Rebecca Donner.
Billy Collins - His latest collection of poems is WHALE DAY (Random House, 2020). Collins served as US Poet Laureate and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He read at the KGB in the 90s.
George Green - An East Village resident who's lived 5 blocks from the KGB for 40 years and attends the readings during hurricanes and blizzards. His book, Lord Byron’s Foot, won the Poet’s Prize and an Academy Award from the American Academy of Arts andLetters. His poems have appeared in 10 anthologies, including The Best American Poetry 2005 and 2006.
