Description

DESCRIPTION:

TCIS Cohort 26 is only for District 17 Staff members identified by their Superintendent’s office to attend. TCIS Cohort 26 will take place on Saturdays- April 21,28, May 5 and 12, 2018 from 8:30am-3:00pm at 17K061, Dr. Gladstone H Atwell Middle School, 400 Empire Blvd, Brooklyn NY 11225. Participants will receive 23 CTLE hours.

TCIS assists schools in preventing crises from occurring, de-escalating potential crises, managing disruptive behavior, reducing potential injury to students and staff, teaching students adaptive coping skills and developing a learning organization. This model gives schools a framework for implementing a crisis prevention and management system that reduces the need to rely on high-risk interventions. It is the aim of TCIS to provide adults with the skills and knowledge so that they can become the catalyst through which the student changes old habits, destructive responses, and maladaptive behavior patterns. This curriculum is designed to teach staff how to help children learn constructive and adaptive ways to deal with their feelings and emotions.

Please Note:

All participants MUST attend all 4 days in order to be eligible for Certification. You must also pass a written test and a short practicum/role play. You only need to register for Day One.
