Event description

Description

Time: 6:00-8:30 p.m.

Location: North Union Administrative Office (12920 St. Rt. 739, Richwood)

Description: Research-based Kernels for Life is a community-based prevention program made up of research-based strategies or "kernels" for improving the behavior, performance, and relationships with young people. An evidence-based kernel is the fundamental unit of behavior change. The Kernels for Life techniques were developed to be a community-based companion to our PAX Good Behavior Game in local schools.

Kernels for Life

Much like an "active ingredient" is at the heart of medicine that works, evidence-based kernels are at the heart of what changes our behavior. For example, in our cars, a bell prompts us to put on our seatbelts. A stop sign encourages us to stop at an intersection. A speeding ticket may encourage us to slow down. All of these are evidence-based kernels that change our behavior.

Research-based Kernels for Life teaches strategies to improve the cooperation and performance of young people at home or in the community. Inspired by decades of research from school teachers, developmental psychologists, prevention scientists, as well as age-old cultural wisdom, these strategies have been developed and honed for application with adults and any young person.
