Event description

Description

Have you ever wondered how your favorite website was created? Or how a web application is made?

Are you thinking about pursuing a career in tech?

Join us and for this FREE Intro to Coding Workshop.

At Grand Circus, we believe anyone can become a developer. This FREE Intro to Coding Workshop is designed for those who are curious about coding, but who have very little or no coding experience.

By the year 2020, there will be over ONE MILLION open computer-programming jobs. Get ahead of the game and learn what being a developer is all about!

This critical first step towards your new career will provide you with basic programming terminology - like syntax (trust us, it’s an important one!) and give you the opportunity to practice basic programming ideas.

While you won’t leave this workshop a developer, you will learn more about Grand Circus and the steps we have in place to get you there.

What do you need for this class?

  • A laptop with Google Chrome downloaded on it (we have loaners if you need one!)

  • A willingness to learn something new

Who Should Attend?

  • Current 11th and 12th graders looking to learn something new this summer

Bus fare reimbursement is available upon request at registration.

Can’t attend? No worries! Find a time that works for you here.

This workshop is provided in collaboration with the City of Grand Rapids SmartZone and Grand Rapids Public Schools
