The Kent Collective is a FREE event on the last Wednesday of every month that brings together the inquisitive people of Kent to hear some fantastic speakers and discuss big ideas on important issues.
Our aim is to build an engaged community of people who love learning, are always questioning the status quo and want to meet like-minded local people.
This month’s event (September) will focus on Our Environmental impact. We have two fantastic speakers offering different perspectives about how we can redesign our products and lifestyles to work in conjunction with the environment that provides a win:win for everybody.
1. Daianna Karaian, Founder of Thoughtful
Daianna likes to live well, but knows doing so can have an impact on the world around her, and she doesn’t want to leave a trail of destruction in her wake. But she also doesn’t want to sacrifice the things that make her happy. So Daianna set up Thoughtful to help people live better by connecting them to things that are made better and knows that we as consumers are the biggest force for change.
2. Julie Rogers, Head of Environmental and Customer Services
Ashford Borough Council was once one of the country’s worst recyclers. Julie headed up a team to transform Ashford’s recycling record and has been integral to Ashford now becoming one of the most improved recyclers in the country. She will explain what the challenges were and what was required to change behaviour to be more environmentally friendly.
Spaces are limited, so please sign up and we look forward to meeting many new faces as we continue our mission of building an engaged local community of like-minded people.
