Keeping native stingless bees with Tim Heard

About this Event
Tim Heard, the guru of native bees and author of The Australian Native Bee Book, will present an interactive workshop all about native stingless bees.
The workshop will alternate between slides and practical sessions and cover bee biology, the importance of bees in natural systems and agriculture, rescuing bees threatened in the wild, keeping stingless bee hives for pets, pollination and sugarbag honey.
Light refreshments and lunch will be served.
About Tim. Tim Heard is an entomologist, ex-CSIRO research scientist and long term stingless bee keeper and promoter of native bees. He transferred his first hive from a cut down tree to a wooden box in 1985. Tim now keeps more than 300 hives of three different native bee species, as well as running a business selling and propagating native bee hives and has recently written a book on native stingless bees.
