About this event
CHOP’s Diabetes Center for Children is ranked among the top children’s hospitals in the country for diabetes and endocrinology care. This full day in-person course is offered to school nurses and non-healthcare professionals who care for children with diabetes.
Knowledge and skills provided in this course are for:
- School health, home care, primary care and behavioral health care professionals
- Teachers
- Out-of-school time program staff
- Case managers
- Social workers
Topics include treatment options for type 1 and type 2 diabetes; self-care management principles; introduction to utilization of diabetes technology (insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring systems) to improve diabetes health outcomes; the emotional impact for families dealing with a diabetes diagnosis; and identifying resources for patients and families managing diabetes.
This Nursing Continuing Professional Development activity was approved by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association Approver Unit, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia designates this live activity for 7.50 ANCC Contact hours.
