So you have a sketchbook, or visual journal, that you haven't used in for awhile. You'd like to develop the habit of using your sketchbook regularly to practice drawing, for creative play, to have a visual record of your life and feelings, or to experiment with new ideas. This is the perfect class to re-jumpstart your sketchbook or visual journal habit with other like minded individuals, along with a bit of guidance, encouragement, and assignments to try from the instructor. This class is best for people who feel comfortable using a sketchbook or visual journal, but want to set a particular time aside to get back into the practice, or as a continuation of the beginner class: How to keep a Sketchbook.
Carol Coogan makes her living as an artist, illustrator, graphic designer, writer, instructor, and trained SoulCollage® facilitator. She has kept sketchbooks and journals her whole life, using them regularly for both personal expression and as part of the process and development of ideas for her professional work. In 2006, Carol created the Times Union’s “Backyard Naturalist” newspaper feature, which she’s been writing and illustrating since. She is also the weekly editorial illustrator for the Altamont Enterprise, and a member of the Crane & Co stationery design team. Her website is www.carolcoogandesign.com
Please note that our classes are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy and participate in our classes.
