Event description

Description

Presenter: Dr. Alice Goode-Elman, Professor of Humanities

Richard Elman (1934-1997) was a novelist, journalist, poet, and teacher. My talk will focus on three mysteries that emerged as a result of people querying me about Richard's correspondence, teaching, and fiction. The first involved a murder in relation to a novel he wrote, "An Education in Blood." The second involved a question that emerged when the biographer of David Foster Wallace was looking for correspondence Wallace had with Richard who had been Wallace's teacher at the University of Arizona in 1986. And the third concerned letters Richard had written to Victoria Wilson when she was doing research for a biography of Barbara Stanwyck.
