This year marked the 71st anniversary of the end of World War II, and the USS KIDD Veterans Museum, along with our presenting partner the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino & Hotel, will honor the legacy of America’s “Greatest Generation” during their annual “Keep the Spirit of ‘45 Alive” event being held from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7th.
The USS KIDD was the first destroyer in America to join the National Spirit of '45 movement and their “Keep the Spirit of ‘45 Alive” event is a fitting remembrance to our WWII service members. Originally scheduled for the anniversary in August, the event was postponed due to the widespread flooding that took place on August 12-13, 2016, in the Baton Rouge metro area.
The Belle of Baton Rouge Casino & Hotel is generously offering 300 free tickets to this unforgettable night. The Belle of Baton Rouge will offer free appetizers and provide a cash bar to all guests. We encourage guests to dress in their favorite "swing" or World War II- era attire. Rosie and the Swingin' Riveters will be back again this year to help us commemorate America's Greatest Generation.
A silent auction will be hosted by the USS KIDD, and all funds raised will directly benefit the USS KIDD Veterans Museum and our educational programming. Reservations for seating are now open.
