school. Check out the update on the new school process. Link - http://limestone.on.ca/

What is happening with the artifacts at the school?

There is an integration committee that will be starting to make recommendations for the new school. Decision making for artifacts and other items involved in the move will be made by this committee.

What is the KCVI Legacy Fund and why should I support this if KC is closing?

The truth is our students will be moving to the new school and staff and students will work diligently to make sure that the move goes smoothly. We feel a great loss for the closure but feel this will be an opportunity for our community to have improved facilities and are excited for our students in this transition.

The KCVI Legacy Fund

K.C.V.I has been a part of the downtown community for 225 years and many students have walked the halls and benefitted from the opportunities that high school life creates. In 1992 at the 200th reunion, the KCVI Bicentennial fund was started as a venue to support students in need. Since this time, many students have benefited from this fund. Students have accessed the fund for bursaries, food programs athletic subsidies, and field trip opportunities. This fund has helped to reduce the economic gap which exists in our community between students who have access to such activities and students who do not. This fund has also allowed the success of two special projects in our school, a fitness room renovation and an outside court yard garden. Both of these special projects have been used by all staff and students over the last 25 years. The KCVI Legacy fund will replace the Bicentennial fund and continue to support students in need in our school for both academic and extra-curricular activities. The financial needs in our community have grown this year as we now serve students from a larger area in Kingston. The new “Legacy Fund” will be monitored by both alumni and current staff at the school. Individual students or groups at KCVI will need to apply to the fund and present a proposal in order to receive funding.

As KCVI staff members, we look forward to continuing our work to support all students in our community and create an inclusive environment as we believe in “Learning is for all”.
