ABOUT OXFAM AMERICA AND THE DARFUR STOVES PROJECT
A portion of the proceeds will help Oxfam America, an international relief and development organization, continue to create lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. Together with individuals and local groups in more than 90 countries, Oxfam saves lives. Armed conflict in Darfur has uprooted more than 2.5 million people. Oxfam is working with Sudanese partners to provide clean water, agricultural support, tree seedlings, fuel-efficient stoves, and small business trainings and grants for people living in and around the crowded camps.
In collaboration with Oxfam America, The Darfur Stoves Project seeks to protect Darfuri women by providing them with specially developed stoves which require less firewood, decreasing women’s exposure to violence while collecting firewood and their need to trade food rations for fuel. The Darfur Stoves Project is the flagship initiative of Potential Energy, a nonprofit organization that provides basic, modern technology to the world's poorest people.
